BRIEF HISTORY OF CALVARY HILLCREST SCHOOLS PTA.

BACKGROUND.

Calvary Hillcrest Schools, formerly called Hillcrest Schools started as a Day Care Centre to assist working Parents to have a convenient   and safe place for their kids while they go to work.

Children six months old were enrolled at the Crèche. They were promoted to Nursery One at age two. At age four they were promoted to Kindergarten two, where the Pre-School section of the School started. At this level, it became necessary to establish the Parent Teacher Association. [P.T.A]

OBJECTIVE.

The main objective of establishing the Association was to serve as a common platform where Parents partner with Teachers and School Management in seeking the holistic development of the child.

ESTABLISHMENT.

The School at a maiden meeting in September, 2001 elected the following as executives for the Association for a term of two years and could stand for re-election for another two terms. But no executive member qualifies for the same position after serving for two terms

as stated in the Constitution of the Association.

TERMS OF OPERATION.

The Association has a Constitution that governs its operations.

The Head serves as an ex-officio member. Apart from the Secretary who is always a Staff on the executive board, all other executive members are parents.

FINANCE.

The Association is operated from monthly dues paid. The Association operates with Cape Coast Branch of Barclays Bank and keeps a separate account from that of the School.

The signatories to the account are The Chairperson, the Vice Chairperson and the Treasurer

PROJECTS.

The Association procured an 8-room canopy for the School and has plans of purchasing durable plastic chairs. As a long term project, the Association would consider purchasing a Bus for the School.
